Merdeka

about the boat
Merdeka was built in Tanah Bahru, South Sulawesi by on the beach by Bugis Craftsmen. The boatbuilding tradition has been in the families for centuries—skills and designs have been passed from father to son since before the Dutch invaded in the 1600’s.

The shipbuilding and seafaring prowess of the Bugis nation are legendary. Some say that the word “Bogeyman” originated from “Bugis Man”. A fierce, independent nation of seafarers, pirates, traders or adventurers who have been building and sailing Phinisi boats from the 1600’s.

Merdeka was built in the mid 1990’s and launched in 1996 and sailed the seas around Makassar for the next eight years when she changed hands and sailed to Phuket.

She has been extensively refitted in Thailand and is now ready for you to step aboard and

Launched in 1998, SY Meroja was built in Phuket by local craftsmen under the supervision of experienced European boat builders. Two comfortable double cabins, two twin and one larger triple berth main cabin, all with ensuite bathroom, are waiting to accomodate up to eleven guests in lush comfort.

Raja Laut

Built in the 21st Century, this impressive classic sailing vessel has all the luxuries required for extremely comfortable sailing holidays in South East Asia.

Over 100ft in length she can accommodate 12 guests in 6 spacious air-conditioned staterooms, all with private en suite bathrooms.

Below decks she has a spacious galley and a large saloon but, with her thirty meters of flush deck and steady motion, most meals will be set up al fresco under the main boom while the guests enjoy the magnificent cruising grounds of Southeast Asia.

Seraph

Seraph is a ‘no compromise’ Schooner whose sailing systems are based on those developed and perfected by the North Atlantic Fishing Schooners of the mid-nineteenth century. All sails are hoisted, trimmed and dropped manually by the crew and numbers of very willing volunteer guests who enjoy this unusual type of exercise known as ‘sweating the lines’ – for obvious reasons!

Her decks are large and uncluttered with an awning covering approximately 25% of the area of the deck, providing cover from the elements for 30 people or more. Should anyone wish to expose themselves to the tropical sun, huge forward areas for ‘cooking’ are available! The only compromise to modern times can be found below decks where a well equipped galley is able to provide excellent catering and two electric heads (toilets) have been installed.

Scame is a classic wooden cutter built in 1971 inItaly by the renownedboatyard Sangermani.She was built as a maxi cruiser racer for racing.Since 1980 she has been sailing around the world making threecircumnavigations. with her ownners the Ballian family.

After countless destinations,this timeless 72 footis now based in South East Asia. She regularly plies the coast of Indonesia sailing from Phuket to the Mentawi islands. She is the home of the sailor Daniel Ballian,his wife Janine and their 24 yearsold son Teiki. They have spent their lives sailing the world on Scame. The yacht is the ideal surf charter boat and the hospitality and friendliness of the Balian family is quite unique. Teiki the son is a superb surfer and he is keen to take guests to all the top locations along this coast. The vessel is stunning inside and on deck.
