A 7 day trip for students who already have the necessary Yacht Master Theory (Please note no students without theory is possible) All students practice their skills in a real life sailing environment with a Yacht Master Instructor (YMI) (Bareboat Captains would be advised to take this course to enhance their knowledge and experience).

The Yacht Master Instructor will teach you all that you need to know in the 7 days that you will have on this boat. The boat will be picked up somewhere in SE Asia ( a designated port will be chosen and a date set. You will be able to learn to sail in parts of SE Asia that are infrequently visited. This is a bespoke course and will suit the adventurous.

The Hylas 44 will be traversing the Indonesian Archipelago in 2009 and this is a very rare opportunity to join a yacht which is cruising in virgin sailing grounds. There are three berths available for students. This is a cruise recommended for prospective Yacht masters or Coastal Masters.

The Yachtmaster Instructor has extensive experience and will happily impart his knowledge to you. The preparatory cruise should be at least 7 days to fully prepare you for a Yacht Master Examination.

You will be informed of your progress as you progress through the course and may be advised to apply for a Coastal Master examination or a Yacht Master examination by course end.

Learn to Race on a performance yacht

This course is designed to help individuals or a boat crew to understand the value of sail trim and tactics as well as the pleasure of close quarters boat handling and competition.

Join a race preparation course and then a regatta! We teach you to sail on a Platu to begin with to refine your skills and then move onto A Racer Cruiser or a full on class 1 IOR two tonner. The race preparation is vital to the smooth running of a yacht at a regatta.

Check out our race training courses on racingcourse. If you want to do this course please review the racing regatta schedule on the same website to check when the next regatta falls. We usually plan the race course two days before the event. Some people want to come with a group and race on a yacht so check to see if we also have a boat available for charter if this appeals to you. racing_boats.

This yacht has a full sailing inventory with 4 spinakers, 4 headsails and a new racing mainsail. She is equipped with runners and checkstays - full B&G instrumentation.

Switchblade is also used for Racing. She has the full kit. Hi Tech Sails, high tech electronics and her crew are some of Phuket's most successful sailors.

Sailplane for International Milecatcher to Andaman, Myanmar and Langkawi

about the boat
Sailplane is a great cruiser/racer, meaning she is fast but also comfortable. Fitted with air conditioning that is essential in this climate, she can sleep up to six in three separate double cabins. The salon has immense headroom, and Beneteau gets good marks for providing plenty of grab rails to help you move around this spacious area. A dinette is to starboard with a curved banquette outboard and a smaller bench seat inboard. The table gimbals to handle various heel angles, and there's ample seating for the whole crew. To port is another settee and the nav station, which also has the electrical panel and a dedicated tool storage.

The galley is aft to starboard so it's out of the way, and the cook has acres of countertop that wraps around from the double sink past the stove lid (with covering board on rollers) and aft over the refrigerator/freezer. The owner's cabin is forward, spanning the full beam just ahead of the mast. To starboard is a large double berth, a settee is to port along with a hanging locker and there is good storage in drawers and shelves. The head and shower are forward and are surprisingly spacious. The guest cabin is aft to port, with full headroom and large double berth and two large opening ports. The day head is just forward of the guest cabin, also with shower.

All in all the cabin is cavernous and, though the cherry stain seems dark, the salon remains bright as a result of the big skylight in mid-cabin (which is a light at night) in addition to no fewer than nine opening ports and two hatches.

Venture is a modern performance cruiser design built in Germany and delivered to Phuket at the end of 2008.

She is well equipped with every conceivable extra expected in a modern yacht and combines this level of comfort with excellent sailing performance.

Accommodating 6 crew in 3 Large separate cabins she has a large well equipped galley, separate navigation area, large dinette and well laid out heads. 7 hatches and 3 opening coach house windows give her excellent ventilation.

Topsides she has a large open cockpit which can seat the whole crew and provides and open sailing platform with plenty of space. A large bimini covering the entire cockpit givesprotection against the most dangerous aspect of sailing in the tropics – the sun. All control lines are lead after to the cockpit and she features full electronic instrumentation including electronic navigation and autoplilot.

In terms of performance Venture was by Judel /Vrolijk - the successful America Cup designers – and is constructed in lightweight epoxy. Unlike many charter yachts she features a full 9/10’s rig with 140% Genoa and gennaker. This configuration provides Venture with exiting sailing performance - even in light airs.
